Instructor's Course in Cochrane, Alberta

Rick, Paul, Natalie, and I flew to Calgary and then drove to Cochrane last Thursday evening where Rick and Paul participated in the 2008 HPAC Instructor's Course held at Muller Windsports.

Keith MacCullough was the Senior Paragliding instructor and John Janssen was the Senior Hang gliding Instructor. The course ran Friday through Sunday from 9am - 5pm each day with 14 participants in attendance.

Natalie had hoped to get some training flights in but, unfortunately, the wind was either way too strong or it was snowing and cold (-15) but she did manage a kiting session.

I assisted in the course and led a 2hr discussion on Risk Management that was well received. Rick and Paul each had short presentations on the final day as well and Rick successfully wrote his Advanced pilot exam - congrats Rick!

It was great to have such a diverse group of pilots together in a knowledge-sharing setting (two of the hang glider pilots had over 20 years experience each!). Thanks to Keith and John for running the course and, as always, to Vincene Muller for her lifelong dedication.
