New gliders for Grant and Hans!

Today was by far one of the best Training Hill days I've seen in nearly a decade.
Grant and Hans opened up their new SWING Arcus 5's and put them through their paces in hopeful preparation for their first solo high flights tomorrow.

I ordered in a new SWING Mistral 5 demo and kited it up during a nice straight in cycle and, when I turned and let the brakes off, I went straight up 50 then 100 feet! To be honest, I wasn't prepared for such amazing lift and had a hard time believing it was actually happening. I only had my tandem passenger harness on complete with sandals so, rather then continue climbing up under the nice big Cu, I took in the view as I boated over Bud and Maxine's house, then the back upper fields, the driveway, etc. before landing back up near the cars. Wow. One day I will be prepared and make the climb out!

Great conditions continued into the early evening and I flew both Hans' size large glider and Grant's medium and, although I did get higher than the highest tree on the property, I never got as high as the first test flight on the Mistral 5.

Charlie and Paul both made appearances and enjoyed the Training Hill as well.

Hopefully tomorrow's forecast holds and we get lots of pilots flying!
