Four for the Road![]() Grant puts in a great last day! (Click photo for more images -> ) The forecast was for strong westerlies and the morning clouds at Prevost where showing west drift on the webcam. The sun was completely blocked out by cloud and the wind was from the east in the LZ when we arrived so, if the wind was good on top, I expected Grant to get a good number of flights in on his last day here on the island. Wind was light but straight in on Middle launch and Grant forwarded off confidently, and later landed directly on the newly mowed strip in the middle of the LZ. I drove retrieve and we repeated the process - this time with a bit more lift for Grant to play with. The sun started to make an appearance on the third run and cycles were coming up Main so, after a few inflations, Grant had his first launch from this takeoff and was able to head over to the cairn and take a different flight path down to the LZ. Super Dave was in the LZ by the time I drove down and together we grabbed lunch and killed some time during the stronger part of the day (after Grant had landed, XC-enabling Cumulus were popping all over the valley). By the time we were back on launch, the sky had started to OD (Over Develop) and the clouds were letting go of some of their moisture. We ended up waiting out the rain while watching a helicopter practice some line work in the clear cut out front and eventually both Grant and Dave flew down in smooth but buoyant conditions to end the day. It was Dave's first high flight in over 3 years and it was good to see him back in the air! Kudos to Grant for all of his work in completing most of his Certified Novice course in just one month - your dedication really paid off and it was a pleasure getting to know and train you!
