Weird Wednesday![]()
Charlie reported that Prevost was looking promising in the morning and Paul, Rick, and I convinced one another that it was worth the drive up. As soon as we got to the LZ, however, the clouds rolled in and threatened rain. For some reason we still drove up to launch. Wind was pretty east on top but then, once the clouds lowered and blocked out the valley, straight in cycles rolled in. Great launch conditions but poor flying conditions. We waited around in the cold (isn't it June?!) and, after way too long, the clouds burned away and the wind totally died. Rick was first off from Middle (too fast for me to snap any photos!), followed by Paul and Charlie. It was a bummer to resort to nil wind launches after waiting through such nice wind but that's how it goes. Rick played around the lower ridge, working the late afternoon lift for about 20mins while Paul and Charlie tried scratching around near the cairn with Paul getting face to face with it at one point.
