Kristian, Craig, and Trevor get to fly!

Shabe and I ferried over to Saltspring this morning where we met up with Kuno for some coffee. After some navigational issues , tandem hopefuls, Kristian and his buddies Craig and Trevor, joined us at the landing zone.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the sun brought with it the first real heat of the summer - providing good launch conditions all day long.

I went first on tandem with organizer and coin toss winner, Kristian, and we found a good climb over the cut blocks to the east of launch, getting up quite high over Bruce Peak. Kristian wasted no time in snapping picture after picture and even taking some video footage. Kuno flew solo and joined us for some thermalling and Shabe was last in the air but wasn't able to work the lift as long as he'd have liked.

Round two saw Craig and I off first and we spent a bit of time in the 'house' thermal but were unable to achieve the same altitude as the first tandem flight.

Shabe elected to wait out the second run in the hopes that the sun would cook up the valley some more and he flew just before Trevor and I. Again, the lift wasn't as strong as during Kristian's flight but still fun nonetheless.

Kuno had the last flight to end the day and everyone went home hot and happy!

Welcome to paragliding guys and I look forward to flying with you again in the fall from Mt Prevost!
